Uwaza sie, ze Hokku-ji to swiatynia wybudowana przez syna ksiecia Shotoku - Yamashiro no Oe no o - na miejscu, gdzie Shotoku zglebial tajniki "Sutry Lotosu Mistycznego Prawa" - jedna z najwazniejszych sutr wschodniej Azji.

It is said that Hokku-ji is the temple built by prince Shotoku's son - Yamashiro no Oe no o - in the place where Shotoku studied "Sutra on the White Lotus of the Sublime Dharma" - one of the most important sutras in East Asia.
